About John Williams and his books John Williams was born on August 29, 1922, in Clarksville, Texas, USA, and he was an American novelist and poet. He showed talent in acting and writing from a young age and briefly worked at newspapers and radio stations in the Southwest. Having joined the United States Air Force in 1942, Williams served during the war and used that time to draft the initial version of his first novel, " Nothing But the Night ," which he later published in 1948. After the war, he moved to Denver, Colorado, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Denver.
